IInd International Congress about “The Immigration in Portugal and in the European Union”

Aims

AGIR – Association for the Investigation and Social and Cultural Development, an institution without profitable aims, is going to organise the IInd International Congress about “The Immigration in Portugal and in the European Union” with the support of the Regional Direction of the Communities of the Azores Regional Government’s Presidency.

This event aims at having an interdisciplinary and international discussion concerning the immigration in Portugal and in the European Union, namely about national, regional and European immigration policies, rights, duties, integration and immigrants’ citizenship, access to the job market and to the enterprising world. During the event, we intend to debate the role of the immigrants’ associations in the defense of the native culture and in promoting the integration in the host countries.

ABSTRACTS AND PAPERS

Abstracts:  The abstracts will have to be written in two of the official languages of the Congress (Portuguese, Spanish, English and French) and should have 250 to 350 words, provisional title, theme, author’s name, institutional affiliation, key-words. The text of the abstract must briefly include the aims of the paper, the theoretical framing, the methodology used in the research and the possibly accomplished results. The abstracts must be sent by e-mail (or floppy disk or CD-Rom) till the 25th October 2006.

Presentation of the text (abstracts and papers): Word 97/2000/XP; Times New Roman; size 12; spacing 1,5 lines.

Written papers: definite title, theme, author’s name, institutional affiliation, key-words, bibliographical references up to 30 A4 pages in floppy disk, CD-Rom or e-mail,  Word 97/2000/XP; Times New Roman; size 12; spacing 1,5 lines, required equipment. Submission of written papers till the 20th November 2006.

Oral presentations: The abstracts which obey to the general requirements will be selected for oral presentations with duration of twelve minutes. However, the authors must have registered in the event till the 20th November 2006.

Other information:

All the oral presentations will have the following means at disposal: multimedia projector and computer, slide projector; overhead projector.

The evaluation of the abstracts will be done by the Scientific Committee and the selected abstracts will be published in the Congress’s proceedings. The authors with the selected abstracts will be informed by e-mail of their acceptance.

The Steering Committee informs that it will reserve the definitive acceptance of the abstracts from people registered in the Congress. The Steering Committee of the event also informs that it has no resources to finance the participants, so they must arrange their own resources to guarantee their coming.
