The chassis was also in a bad shape. Lots of rust in the rear section, a poor repair of the side members and signs of what  I inicially thought was an accident on the right front. Fortunately the chassis dimensions, according to the original factory drawings, are all correct.

The chassis and body separated.

The left side poor repair

The rear left section  needs help …

The right one needs surgery !

What I thought was an accident. Thankfully it isn’t, some MGA’s have it, and all chassis dimensions are correct

Front view of the chassis. If you look carefully, you can see the small bend on the right side of the car.

Repairing the chassis …

Work started by reinforcing the chassis. And work only on half the section at a time. The outside section was cut out, repaired, and only then did we do the inside.

Left side almost ready.

Only the outside right sill was in good shape

See how it looked like on the inside!

And finally, painting !

Primered chassis

And painted

And the assembly process begins !

Let’s start by getting the engine and gearbox back in place

Front Suspension Work

See how it looked like before

Get all the parts together. One left arm is already in place

The right side under construction ….

in more detail

And both sides waiting for the shock absorbers

Right side complete with hub

And after one year, the front is back on the ground !

Added carbs and steering rack

New fuel pump, cooper lines and shock absorbers

Almost ready for the first road test! Only the rear axle is missing, and a few minor things

And the first road test happens! Starting the engine for the first time was quite a thrill !!
